Eventually successful end of Speedski season
The speedski season 2007/2008 has come to an end. The weather played a main role in the last races of the season. Verbier/Nendaz pulled out an excellent track and organization, unfortunately wind, clouds and snow prevented a full program and high speeds.
From the original program only 1 day could be raced for the FIS World Cups. Merijn's results for this training and qualification day were very poor; a 28th place was the result...
On the other side Merijn ended up as the number 8 in the world, in the overall FIS standings!
With full spirit Merijn put everything in the Speedmasters pro race. So his qualifications were a lot better this time; 3th and 5th with a final run of 188,09 km/h. Again the final day was cancelled because of high winds so Merijn finished 5th in the pro race. Best performance of the season.
