Ready for Start of Speedski World Cup Tour 2010
Speedskier Merijn Vunderink is fully prepared for the start of the new 2010 World Cup season. Since his total recovery after a severe crash last season Vunderink states: "My revalidation after shoulder surgery went really well. I feel more than ready to go fast again!!".
Vars France
Like last year the World Cup tour starts of in Vars, France. From the 24th of January untill February 1st 2010 the Chabrières piste will be the arena for the fastest skiers in the world. The racetrack is known as one of the steepest in the world, with a maximum slope of 98% (average gradient 52.50%) and a track record of 243,9 km/h.
Goals
The fast Dutchman hopes to consolidate his position in the World Cup circuit. The 2009 season turned out to be very succesfull, with his fifth place in the overall World Cup standings. In spite of the strong field of competitors, Vunderink is still luring for a possible podium finish in the coming speedski season.
